Premium rates now available to South Carolina small quantity renewable energy generators
June 6, 2012
Generators of 6kWh or less of renewable energy can now take advantage of a premium $0.10 per kilowatt hour from Palmetto Clean Energy (PaCE). This premium is available on a first-come-first-serve basis to generators of solar, wind, hydro or biomass-based electricity who connect to the grid via one of the three PaCE utility members: Duke Energy, Progress Energy or South Carolina Electric & Gas.
Applications are available on the PaCE website at www.palmettocleanenergy.com by clicking on “Become a Generator.”
PaCE, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, allows South Carolina customers of one of the three participating utilities to buy tax-deductible blocks of green, renewable energy and add them to our state’s power supply for as little as $4 per month. For information about how to contribute to PaCE on an ongoing or one-time basis, please visit www.palmettocleanenergy.com and click on “Sign Up.”
PaCE also provides a way for event sponsors to “go green” by purchasing blocks of renewable energy equal to the electricity used during the course of the event. Event sponsors can highlight their participation with the PaCE Green Energy pop-up banner for use during the event. Photos of the event may be featured on the PaCE website at www.palmettocleanenergy.com under “News and Events.”
