Energy Office staff traveled to Benore Logistics Systems in the upstate for the unveiling of their two new fleet additions— an Orange EV Terminal Tractor and a Peterbilt Model 579 EV. Benore uses the Peterbilt Model 579 EV prototype to determine which routes will support electric vehicle (EV) deliveries. Benore plans to have 50 electric trucks running routes within 2-3 years and 50 percent of their fleet comprised of EVs within 10 years. Benore is a logistics supplier for BMW Manufacturing, which has supported this project by installing a DC Fast Charger at BMW’s plant. Additionally, as a supplier for Michelin, Benore exclusively mounts Michelin tires including those that reduce rolling resistance and increase efficiency for EVs.
During this celebratory event, Benore’s partners including Michelin, Orange EV, PACCAR, and BMW noted how innovation, collaboration, profitability, and environmental stewardship were priorities to achieve their mutual sustainability goals. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster concluded the ceremony on a high note, in support of the economic and workforce development impacts from these major companies in South Carolina.
