Develop a Residential Labeling/Sticker Disclosure Pilot (EE/EB 1)
For a full explanation of this recommendation, see page 60 of the SC Energy Efficiency Roadmap (PDF).
The purpose of home energy labels is to provide reliable, standardized information to residents about a residential dwelling's estimated energy use. They also can provide an estimate of a home's energy costs and recommendations for energy-saving improvements. This information can help educate individuals about home energy use at the time of purchase or rental, or when making home upgrades.

The South Carolina Energy Office has launched an energy labeling program to help homeowners and residents better understand home energy use.
Home energy labels are tools that provide reliable, standardized information about estimated home energy use and costs. Much like miles-per-gallon (MPG) ratings on vehicles or Nutrition Facts labels on food products, home energy labels help people understand how homes use energy and inform consumers about home energy features and costs.
The Home Energy Labeling Program is currently available in select areas throughout the state. Click the button below for more information on the program and to learn how you can get involved.
Qualified home energy professionals like energy auditors, home energy contractors, home inspectors, or home appraisers can differentiate themselves and their businesses by becoming a State of South Carolina Home Energy Score Assessor. Becoming an Assessor is a great way to:
-
Help your clients better understand home energy use, costs, and opportunities for improvements
-
Build trust with clients by offering a standardized assessment and nationally-recognized report
-
Document the value of completed home energy upgrades
-
If you are interested in becoming an Assessor, click on the link below to fill out a form, and a member of our team will get back to you.
